project showcase: {ART} Features Jarrod Sim

Jarrod Sim was born in 1987 in Singapore. He received his diploma from LASALLE College of the Arts and then headed to London to study at Goldsmiths. He is currently pursuing an MA in Fine Art at the Chelsea College of Art and Design. Since his initiation in 2008, Jarrod has blended the concerns and methods of popular culture and personal observations with digital media to create his on visual language, often satirical yet unsettling. His work explores collapsed romanticism within contemporary social structures; he is especially interested in music, literature and history.

Jarrod has exhibited in a variety of countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, London and Finland. His works have been featured in several publications and film festivals. In 2008, he was video editor to artist, Shubigi Rao for her work in the Singapore Biennial. In 2010, he was a recipient of the All Roads Seed Grant by National Geographic, where he created a documentary film on Eurasian cultures in North Malaysia. He is also a freelance jazz pianist and has performed in several bars and events in Singapore and London.
